new experiment, titled self-righteous.
New piece up on my portfolio today. Been experimenting and learning a lot about visual language. Came up with this after contemplating the power of beauty and sex appeal in my own life. What does this say to you? Oh yeah new radiohead release today.
Playing around with a new Zine style. Really digging it right now. If you can’t tell the last few weeks have been about studying and experimenting. Basically trying to find my voice, not something you do in an afternoon. although that is how I treat it sometimes.
Experimenting today with some new concepts and techniques. What is interesting about beef factories is the great lengths they go to calm the cows before they slaughter them. if they don’t suspect anything cows with follow the herd anywhere. Its makes me think of a documentary I saw this weekend called “Inside Job”, which is basically how the big banks got the american people to let them do anything even cause the recession. Check out the trailer here.
If you get the LA WEEKLY where you are, I made the cover that was published today. Its about the state of indie films in Hollywood. Very grateful to have the opportunity, Its been a humbling month.
Experimenting today with a new type of print reproduction that is most similar to ink blotting (a non-mechanical printing process used most famously by Andy Warhol). Really excited how it turned out, every print is different, not to dissimilar to screen printing. hopefully I will have some for sale in my store soon.
The image by the way was inspired by my recent interest in old blues music. Son House particularly, was going through my head when I made this one. Hope you like.

This week a friend of mine let me use his large format printer to print out some posters and they turned out great. On the poster is the Olivetti Lettera 22 Typewriter piece that I designed. I took the liberties of framing one and hanging it in my office (pictured above) and I must say, it looks awesome and somehow inspires me in a nostalgic way. If you want one for your office or room please access my store at

Today a post went up on illostribute.com . A blog ,created by Toby Neighbors, that honors illustrators of the past by appointing contemporary illustrators to make a piece dedicated to said illustrators body of work. I am honored to be among the selected this month as we recognize Earl Oliver Hurst and his fantastic work.
For those of you who live in LA County, Pick up a copy of this todays LA WEEKLY to see a cover I made. I havent seen it yet only a proof can’t wait. Cheers
Incase you missed it here is the image i did for the OC Weekly a week ago.
Here is the link to the article and image i did for the OC Weekly. It came out yesterday and turned out nicely, The OC Weekly knows how to work they are easy to work with and the images always print well. I wish they all could be California girls.
This thursday, in the OC Weekly, I have an illustration being published for an article about the possible publishing of teachers salaries in the OC Register. A very controversial topic.
I have been very interested in the modular structure of this image. I often see grids used in graphic design but rarely in Illustration. My background and the process I have been exploring this year have lead me here, Modular illustration. I love seeing how my style has adapted and changed as my values and interests change. This grid may not even come through visually but it dramatically changes my process. If you are interested in grids and want to read more check out this site.
A few weeks ago I came into possession of a 1949 Olivetti Lettera 22 typewriter. A mid-century design masterpiece. My affinity with 1950’s design came long before my obsession with the show MadMen, Eames’ chairs, or Frank Lloyd Write it actually started with my likeness for Apple Computers. Of course Apple wasn’t even around in the 50’s But this guy was. Dieter Rams, The grandfather of all Apple products and a revolutionary in Modern design.
The above illustration was birthed from my time learning about and playing with my new toy. I am not an industrial designer but I am a designer of visual experiences. Much like a modern designer would think about form, function, flow, ergonomics, and elimination I too think about these things, form of objects, function of symbols, ergonomics of the eye, flow of a composition, and the elimination of the meaningless. I am in the process of making this into a screen-printed poster, would any of you be interested in a poster of this image?
Recently i had a 4 image layout in last months Houston Press best of issue. The image above was dedicated to a candy store in Houston that is so good it is said you could contract candy born ADD. Hence the Pez dispenser swallowing 15mg of Ritalin (the cure for the common child). Although the print version didn’t turn out exactly how I envisioned it it is still a great image non the less. also if you like this very much and want a 8.5 x 11 version of it up on your wall it is up for purchase in my store. Also i plan on adding more in the store soon, including a larger format screen printed poster.
